For those keeping track:
I broke up the now non-existent category Austin at night (and day) into two more specific, not very cleverly named ones: Keep Austin Weird and Austin nights. I think I might do some more breaking up in order to keep things more on-topic. I’ll sleep on it.
Also, I’ve added a new link [...]

“Trabajo de Mierda” (Shitty Job)
A Play by Thelma Sandler
November 29th - 7 and 9 PM
Teatro de la Ciudad
Jaramillo can’t help himself with that new fancy camera of his. On our last trip to Monterrey he took hundreds of photos, which are now online.
If you want to see the Parque Fundidora, the Forum Universal de Las Culturas, Paseo Santa LucÃa, the beautiful MARCO museum, and many more, then this is the link [...]
Above: Bert and Ernie.
Below: Marcos and Euclides.
My gut tells me I should sue their asses off for using our likeness for profit. My team of legal advisors tell me I should not take on The Jim Henson Company for this. Apparently Bert and Ernie have been around longer.
What do you think? Do I have a case?Â
Some observations on last Tuesday’s concert:
The Backyard is cool, but it’s FAR. They can’t expect people fro Austin to drive through rush hour to get there.
And their parking sucks. Almost an hour to park and almost an hour to leave is unforgivable. What are they thinking? Thankfully we had a soccer ball and plenty [...]
“Tarda en llegar. Y al final, al final hay recompensa”
Last Friday, I went to what was the best concert I’ve ever been to.

Everything is ready to go.
Yesterday they finally approved low cost airline Vivaaerobus to fly out of a new no-frills terminal in the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
This means direct flights from Austin to Cancún, Guadalajara, León, Monterrey, Puebla, and Queretaro. And they will be cheap too: supposedly starting at $9.99 before taxes.
Since a quick trip to Monterrey includes:
Car permit: about $40
Car [...]
Last Thursday I was finally able to catch Venezulean band Los Amigos Invisibles in concert. They have been eluding me for years: a couple of years ago in Carlos & Charlie’s here by the lake, they played in ACL last year, they played in Havana in Monterrey while I was there. And for one reason or another I couldn’t go.
Right before the concert [...]
